ALL ABOUT PRINTING YOUR DIGITAL PURCHASE

This page is created to help you with common questions about your digital purchase.

If you still have questions after reading this, please talk to any printing service about your concerns.

Your files will be emailed to you with a downloadable link within a few minutes after your purchase is complete. (Check your junk mail folder if you haven’t seen it come through!) Your email will come with one approx. 8”x 10”(20.32 x 25.4 cm) JPG file which you can print as many times as you like.

  • ORIGINAL

Be sure to DOWNLOAD the actual file instead of just saving the preview image. We recommend downloading and saving these files to a computer. Phones and tablets often compress the file, which will compromise the quality of the image. All of our files are saved as a JPG file approximately 20 MB since most online printers will not accept files over 25 MB. All files downloaded will be 300 dpi. Also, know that all of our digital file prints can be printed smaller or larger than 8”x 10” (20.32 x 25.4 cm) and are test-printed up to 31” x 41” (79 cm x 104 cm) for quality. Note that it works well to increase the size up to approx. 31” x 41” (79 cm x 104 cm). For large format prints, we recommend using glossy photo paper although a matte finish will work fine too.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PHOTO SIZE:

The recommended size is 8”x 10” (20.32 x 25.4 cm). However, some of the photos are not a standard size 8”x 10” (20.32 x 25.4 cm) and have been cropped to some degree to create the best composition of the subject matter. It’s best to print the photo and then measure the exact printed size. You can do this on a home printer or you can ask your printing professional to let you know what the printed size will be. If the photo is not a standard size you will want to order a custom mat (if you are going to be displaying the photo with a mat.) If you are planning to frame the photo, a custom mat can be made to fit the size of a standard frame, which is an economical choice.

  • DECIDE WHERE TO PRINT

We suggest that you print using a professional service to obtain the best results, especially to achieve the most vibrant colors. NOTE:  HP, Epson, Brother, Canon, Xerox and many others have custom apps to connect with their printers.

  • YOU MAY WANT TO TAKE THE PHOTO(S) TO AN IN-STORE PRINT SERVICE.

Here are several ways to do this:

    • Save the digital file to a USB Flash Drive and take it to a walk-in local photo lab, which is usually fast and inexpensive. Usually there is a self-service kiosk or counter service. You can go back to the store for pick up or have it mailed to you.

    • Local Photo Lab walk-in sites that ALSO have online services include: CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, Costco, Staples, FedEx.

    • Upload to an online print service.  Typically, they have more of a variety of finishes to choose from and the image quality is often slightly better than Local Photo Labs.  They offer frequent coupons, but speed is slower than local photo labs.  See common printing services below.
